Let’s talk about… the importance of healthcare access in addressing obesity

KPC Medical College have conducted a study among children 5-18 years attending OPD in a rural medical college of West Bengal, a state of India. It was found that alarmingly around 50% of them were having childhood obesity with high carotid intimal thickness which is an important marker of future risk of NCDs. We found contributing factors like as, lack of exercises, eating street and junk foods, night craving for food etc. besides ignorance of family on this alarming issue.
